Staffordshire Police recognise the vital role that farmers and rural residents play in our communities and remain committed to tackling rural crime and keeping the countryside safe. Through Operation Rural Matters, officers and PCSOs work closely with farmers, landowners and rural businesses to prevent crime, respond to concerns and protect livelihoods. 🐑 Our focus includes: Tackling theft of machinery, tools and fuel Preventing livestock crime and wildlife offences Addressing poaching, hare coursing and illegal off‑roading Providing crime prevention advice tailored to rural areas Using local intelligence to target offenders 👮♂️ How farmers and rural residents can help: Report suspicious vehicles, people or activity as soon as possible Mark and secure machinery, tools and fuel tanks Keep gates, outbuildings and equipment locked where possible Record serial numbers and use forensic marking such as Smart-water Share information through trusted rural networks and alerts 📞 How to report Call 999 if a crime is in progress or there is immediate danger Call 101 for non‑emergency reports Report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 Working together, we can protect our rural communities, support our farmers and help keep Staffordshire’s countryside safe 💙 | ||
